Thursday Travels

Thursday Travels @Exploring the World is a new photographic meme that highlights your favourite and best holiday pics.

One at a time.

Some easy to follow rules:

  • Pick just ONE photo that shows something unique, unusual or quintessential about your travels.
  • You can label it, write a story or do a travelogue piece about your photo if you so desire.
  • These photos are about the place, the environment (man-made or natural), panoramas, macros - whatever captures your eye.
  • All photos must be your own.
  • NO selfies or family pics please.
We're all about the scenery at Thursday Travels!

I love playing the panoramic option on my iphone.
This is a pic of Busselton Jetty in W.A.
First built in 1865, extensions were added over the next 100 years until it reached the whooping great length of 1.841 km. It was closed as a Port in 1972 and is now home to an underwater observatory, museum and shops.
The day were we there, was incredibly windy, but since no selfies are allowed, you will have to imagine a wind-swept Brona on the end of the jetty, bracing herself against the strength of the wind!

Saturday Snapshot - WA

A few more quick pics from Western Australia again this week.

I've included some panorama shots that might be viewed best by clicking on them to open them up on a full screen.

We've spent the whole time down south around the Margaret River and Denmark area.
It's beautiful. Windy, but beautiful!

Elephant Rocks near Denmark

A Red Tingle tree at the Tree Top Walk
Mr Seasons climbing the Bicentennial Tree near Pemberton.
He made it to the first platform about 60m off the ground!

Me climbing the Gloucester Tree the next day, but I only went up about 10m!

And Mr Seasons panorama shot from the very top of the Gloucester Tree!

Where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean at Cape Leeuwin.
Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse collage.

The end of Busselton Jetty (& the Indian Ocean) - a 1.8km walk from ship to shore.

Sunset over Sugarloaf Rock near Dunsborough

And a few more WA wildflower (Instagram) collages to finish up with.

Saturday Snapshot - WA

We're holidaying in Western Australia for a week.

Here's a few quick snaps from day 1 - the road trip from Perth to Denmark on the south coast.

So far it looks very similar to country NSW or country Victoria.

Rose maze at Kojonup. It was dry and dusty but the scent was divine.

Lovely pate platter (& Sav Blanc Semillon) for lunch at West Cape Howe Winery near Mount Barker.

View of the Southern Ocean from our sweet little resort just in the hills behind Denmark village.

I love the agapanthus - especially the purple ones.

Finally, I love the bark colourings on the gum trees. The gum trees in WA grow so straight and tall. They're beautiful.

This is my first attempt to post using my smart phone and the blogger app - fingers crossed and apologies for any weird glitches in the way it's presented this week.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with the ones you love.
Happy New Year!
See you in 2014 xo

Saturday Snapshot - Broome Memories

7 years ago, my husband and I had our first romantic holiday away together.
We chose Cable Beach Resort in Broome.

It was pure magic from start to finish.

By the end of the holiday we both knew that we had something pretty special going on.
Cable Beach Resort also set the standard by which we judge all other resort holidays.

Taking the obligatory sunset camel ride along Cable Beach.

Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.

The rules are simple:

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
