Saturday Snapshot December 8th

Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.
The rules are simple:

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

The Silk Trees (Albizia) are in full bloom in my local area right now.
I love their burst of summer colour and the way their branches delicately
umbrella out over the garden.
They're a Christmas tree dressed in green, red and white!

  1. Gorgeous.
Those fine folks at Hasbro [or wherever] who invented the things you buy with the little electric lights at the end of spindly tendrils must have taken their inspiration from this flower.
Nature beats invention, hands down, every time!

  2. Fantastic photos! Very different from the Christmas trees I know - but just the right exuberance.

  5. I do like the spiny, prickly look of this flowering tree. A nice touch of "spring" in the midst of winter. Thanks for sharing.

  7. That is gorgeous! I've never seen anything like that before (unless you count the lights that Cipriano mentioned). :)

  8. I first discovered silk trees in New Zealand, and then came home to find one in bloom out the front of our rental house! Now I see them everywhere. There's one in my street now. I haven't noticed it in bloom yet, I'll have to check it out, although we tend to be behind Sydney of course. Lovely photos.

  9. What an unusual flower. The first thing I thought of were those spindly lights too!
