International Fleet Review Sydney #2

The International Fleet Review last week provided me with so many photo ops!
Saturday night there was a huge fireworks and light show on the harbour.

On Sunday, various ships were open to the public at Garden Island.

Garden Island is so named because the First Fleeters used the island as the first farm when they arrived in Australia in 1788.
It is now used at Fleet Base East by the Australian Royal Navy.
In the 1940's the Base was extended to include a dry dock which resulted in Garden Island joining up with the mainland.
Visitors can still access the original island via ferry, but the rest of the Base is usually closed off.
This was a rare opportunity to visit the whole Base.

Mr Seasons, his dad and two boys checking out the model ship display!

This is part of the Saturday Snapshot meme hosted by Melinda at West Metro Mommy.

  1. Sydney certainly knows how to put on a display on the harbour- doesn't she? Night or day it's beautiful. The fireworks display sounded marvellous.

  9. Fun pictures! And good job with the fireworks! My husband always tries to get pictures of the fireworks on the 4th of July, but they always come out blurry.
