Vivid Sydney 2013 was a 'light spectacular' that transformed the CBD of Sydney for 3 weeks.
Local landmarks were lit up by coloured lights, lasers and fireworks.
We decided to check it out on it's second last night over the June long weekend.
Big mistake!
The crowds were stupendous.
We stayed long enough to see the light show play across the Opera House.
Then we pushed our way through the teeming masses back to the ferry terminal.
We were unable to see any of the other light exhibits along the way due to the overwhelming number of people gathered around each one.
Lesson learnt.
Next year - go early and go midweek!
Click on the link at the top of the page if you'd like to see some of the other light displays.
The ferry ride home provided us with one last dazzling sight.
The western side of the Harbour Bridge was lit up with a rotating rainbow of colour.
Beautiful.
Saturday

old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for
all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you.
Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
Well, I think Mother Nature's show is just perfect! Shame about the fireworks etc, though. Better luck next year.
ReplyDeleteWOW...that first photo is especially gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome shots....Nature's light show is wonderful. Crowds, not so much. Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
ReplyDeleteI bet it was beautiful... if you could get through the crowds! When I was younger I didn't mind fighting the masses, now I tend to go to events mid-week as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteI also think the natural light show is probably the best.
ReplyDeleteI was very keen to get to Vivid this year, but it wasn't meant to be what with bigger trips on the horizon. We saw it a few years ago, when the crowds were more modest. Still it was an absolutely amazing spectacle. I'm glad you got to see it.
ReplyDeleteStill a spectacular trip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sunset!
ReplyDeleteSeems like a great trip!
ReplyDeleteHere is my snapshot post
Amazing photos, Brona! The sky is beautiful and rivals any of the others. What a clever thing to do with the Opera House! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely got some cool shots in spite of the crowds. Love the sunset as well as the light show photos.

I agree that the first photo was spectacular. But the rest are pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful! The first one is my favorite too. I'm not a fan of the big crowds either so that sounds like a major headache. Hopefully next year will be much easier! :)
