Saturday
Snapshot is a meme hosted by
Alyce at At Home With
Books.
The rules are simple:
To participate in the
Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have
taken and leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be
old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for
all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you.
Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
This week I'm highlighting local street art.
I live in a leafy, peninsula suburb.
Almost every street has a good view of the harbour or a bridge or the city skyline.
Street art was never very big here as a result - who needs art when Mother Nature puts on such a good show?
But in the past 5 years or so, interesting things have been done to mundane objects like power boxes and fences.

Poetry greets people as they arrive in our suburb.
Our parks and streets have been brightened up by local artists.
And the guerrilla gardeners beautified the ugly unused space outside the Post Office with plants and recycled sculptures.
It certainly makes walking to work a more pleasant experience.
Such cool glimpses of your surburb Brona. I particularly like that blue power box with the coffee machine on it, but I think it's been graffitied, which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and such unique artwork!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I am a big fan of any kind of art, especially the kind that beautifies ordinary (or even ugly) objects.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
I think that is spectacular!! I know of so many places that could stand to be repainted and bringing art and beauty to all is such a cool thing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to display local art! It makes for a lovely stroll around the neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteNeat art! Love the box with the eyes on it, the fence with the words carved in. But what does it say?
ReplyDeleteI love street art!! Toronto has some very good pieces. I especially love that door.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and visiting me.
What a delightful walk you have.
ReplyDeleteStreet art gives new life to towns and downtowns. Here in Napa our poet laureate added boxes in the downtown with poems written by coal poets which anyone can pick up, read and take home with them.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos.
Love it ... who tagged the cappucino machine though! That silly Foe! Or wait ... is that the artist's signature? ha!
ReplyDeleteThose are really awesome! I am a huge fan of street art, and I take a lot of photos of it in my travels.

ReplyDeleteWhat interesting photos. I like the rather shabby boat.
ReplyDeleteVery clever. About the only thing that gets decorated in my town are the rain barrels.
ReplyDeleteCool photos.
