February - my favourite month of the year!
It's still summer, but starting to cool down a little.
It's my birthday month (along with so many family and friends it's ridiculous really!)
The new school year has just started and everyone is fresh and rested from the long break in routine. There's an optimism attached to the new school year that lingers from my own school days as well as from my teaching years.
I love the 'do-over' feel that goes along with a new school year.
The possibility, anticipation and hope!
One of the things we love to do at this time of the year is to go to the beach after work/school on Friday's to cool down...our beach of choice is Coogee Beach.

Happy Birthday Brona. I love Coogee Beach too, but don't get there nearly often enough. This sounds like a wonderful tradition.
ReplyDeleteThat first one took me a minute too - I thought it was a giant yellow flotation device stuck in the sand.

It is a flotation device (used by the lifesavers) attached to a pole near the swimming flags.

ReplyDeleteI love that photo too...but because of the time thing...that young boy 5 yrs later is now taller than his father! It's my husband who has to stretch to catch up in ball games now :-)
