Annual events like the Bondi to Tamarama Beach Sculptures by the Sea remind you how quickly time flies by. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the event.
Mr Seasons & I had so much fun taking photos of the sculptures this year, I think I will have to turn this into a 'to be continued' post. The afternoon was perfect.
About 25 C degrees, a little breeze and moderate crowds.
A few of the sculptures suffered storm damage last weekend, but there was still plenty to see.
As per usual, there was the usual mixture of graceful, baffling and idealogicial.

Buried Rhino seems really intricate. I loved the colours of Untitled Coral and Water Blocks.

By the sea is the way to do it - it's a lovely evening walk - across the warm sand, over rocks and along cliff top paths with the sound of the crashing waves and seagulls calling. The smell of salty seaweed and wet sand and fish and chips is rather lovely too.
DeleteWell, if I had a choice between reading or going to Bondi beach...I would do exactly as you did! Loved all the foto's + Mr. Seasons but my favorite was 'FLUID"!

DeleteI really want to get to that one year- it won't be this year (story of my life). I really like the rhino and the water cubes- I'd like to see them closer, but they look like they're down the cliff a bit.
ReplyDeleteYes, some are not meant to be accessed by the public - a zoom lens is a good thing to have for this walk. But so many more are right where you are and they encourage you to walk through and around them (although they prefer you to not touch).
DeleteI hope you make it one day soon Louise. They now run an extra week longer than they used to which makes it easier to get there for us too.

ReplyDeleteI loved the balance of Air-Circles too. Would love to try and capture a sunrise though one of the circles...but I would never get up that early on a w/e!!
DeleteSculpture is probably my favorite art form, and the ones in this exhibition are amazing. I could spend a weekend walking among them! Looks like you had perfect weather for your viewing too. What fun!

I do love this particular event for it's location, time of year and atmosphere.
DeleteFor the first time in ages, I took along our proper digital camera and was very happy with the pics it took (compared to the smart phone - which does a great job, back lacks the depth of perception and ability to zoom.)
Wow, so much creativity and beauty! What a great event. I especially liked The Tractor with the spilling "paint," Buried Rhinos, and Being Now Here No Where...but they are all gorgeous in their own ways.
