Manly

Oh dear!

Life has really got in the way of my blogging life this year.
And I really miss the creative vibe that blogging can tap into.

So this is a catch-up post.

Way back in February I had a birthday.
It actually coincided with my day off work, so I gave myself a little day trip to Manly.

It was a beautiful summer's day and the water was divine.
I visited an art gallery, went for a swim and had a scrumptious lunch overlooking Manly Beach.

Little Penguin Beach (near Manly Wharf)
Little Penguin Beach is the only mainland breeding ground left for the Little Penguins (Eudyptula minor). They return to Manly each year between May and February to breed. (They also breed on Lion Island which I highlighted in previous posts).
The local residents are dedicated to keeping this nesting area for the penguins safe as they are an endangered species.
They have increased the number of breeding pairs to 60-70 over the past 20 years.
The best time to see one of the little penguins is in the evening.

Lunch with a view of the Esplanade.

The ferry ride back to Circular Quay became an exercise in boat spotting.

  5. Oh who doesn't love a day trip to Manly? It always feels like a seaside holiday. A great way to spend your birthday. I definitely know what you mean about life interfering with blogging. So many plans, so little achieved.
