Autumn in the Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are famous for their quaint villages, deep valleys and spectacular sandstone cliffs...oh, and of course, the gum trees! It is the bluish tinge produced by the vapour of the gum trees that gives the mountains their iconic name.

However since early settlement times, the mountains have become home to an ever increasing array of decidious trees famous for their autumnal displays. Ash trees, maples, elms & an assortment of pears, apples & pistachios line the streets and highways & fill the beautiful parks found in each village.

Today's selection of photos highlight a few of the autumn trees to be found in Blackheath during March.

  1. I don't think I knew that deciduous trees everywhere drop leaves in fall. Somehow I was thinking (sheepishly) that this was yet another American exclusive.

  2. So pretty. Our leaves are changing too- you actually start to see the early changes late January.

  3. Beautiful. I am not a fan of fall mainly because I know what comes next but the leaves are gorgeous.

  4. Beautiful, beautiful photos. I love the way you've captured the sun shining on the colorful leaves. Quite a contrast from our emerging spring here in the U.S.
Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

  5. Such color! We've yet to have much Spring green here in New England, USA. Any outdoor color that's not grey, brown, or white would be greatly appreciated!
