Open Air Cinema

Every year, St George sponsors an Open Air Cinema experience for Sydneysiders in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It's now a very well run and organised experience....with a view to die for! Watching the hydrolic screen emerge from the water's edge is also quite dramatic.

This week Mr Seasons & I saw Men, Women and Children - a very thought-provoking movie about our online lives and how they're affecting all of us.

  1. I haven't been to one of those in a very long time- the screen certainly looks more high tech. I can feel the Sydney night. I haven't heard of that movie, but that's not uncommon.

  2. I love how the movie screen rises up. And such an interesting choice of a movie. I will seek it out. Thank you!

  4. Oh, we used to go to open air movies when I was young...the experience is awesome. I loved Men, Women, and Children...a movie that definitely made me think about how our younger generation (and some of us) spend our time these days.

Thanks for sharing...and here's my SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

  5. The only outdoor movies I've been to were drive-in theaters when I was young. Not even close to your delightful experience! This looks like a lovely way to see a movie, especially with the drop-dead-gorgeous view. You've given me another reason to visit Australia.

  6. Oh, how fun! There are places around here that do outdoor movies in the summer (although none of them have as dramatic a background). I've never gone, but I might bring the kids to one this year.

  7. What an amazing venue. I have only once been to an open air cinema, on a Greek island. It was great, but we got bitten to bits by mosquitoes.

    1. The danger in Sydney, in the Botanic Garfens are unwelcome droppings from the fruit bats who love the Morton Bay figs!!

  8. Open air cinema concept is there in some of the colleges here. Great pics, I haven't been in one of those for a long time now.

  9. What a beautiful place for a theater event. We have movies on the lakefront in the summer, but the weather (and the mosquitoes) are so unpredictable!
