Saturday Snapshot 13th October

Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.

The rules are simple:

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

Two curiosites from my garden this week.

Everywhere we have signs of Spring, but tucked up in the back corner of my garden I found 2 of my chrysanthemum's flowering!
Normally they flower in May in time for Mother's Day
so I'm not quite sure what is going on this year.
But it's lovely to pick a few of them for the vase on my kitchen windowsill.

This is an Australian native called Leucadendron galpinii 'Purple Haze'.
So far I've seen lots of lovely silvery leaves and cones and very little purple anything. Imagine my surprise when these tiny yellow flowers popped out!

This weekend we're off to Bathurst for a family birthday.
To get there we drive through the Blue Mountains.
We should have left last night after work, but yesterday we all returned to winter.
Snow dumped on all the high peaks, including the Blue Mountains!
And all the roads west were closed due to alpine conditions and black ice.

Maybe next week I will have a picture of snow for you!

  1. I love that first photo, it's so gorgeous. The snow was crazy. Although it's certainly snowed in spring in recent years as well. I hope you get through without problems today.

  2. Thanks Louise, we got to Bathurst safely. It was alittle weird to see spring blossoms and azaleas in bloom with a carpet of snow! We took a few pics on the way through - no doubt they will be the feature of next week's post :-)

  3. I wouldn't have been expecting those little yellow flowers either with a purple name like that! :) Gorgeous chrysanthemum!

  4. This whole different season thing confuses my northern hemisphere mind. I thought, of course, the mums are blooming now. But you're in Australia so things should be different. Here's Mine

  5. Spring brings flowers and joy.
Beautiful photos. The purple is a greeting. The yellow is an offering.

  6. What lovely photos. The second one looks really alien, but beautiful.

  7. What an odd looking plant that yellow and silver one is! No Snapshot from me this week, but I'm enjoying looking at everyone else's.
